What does cultural competency mean to you? Join the AOK Network on Thursday, November 8th as we bring together members of the Rock Island County early childhood community to explore our own understandings of culture, definitions of "cultural competency" in our local community, potential areas of development around cultural competency, and next steps in the AOK Network's priority area of culturally competent workforce development.
We will be using the World Cafe format for this conversation. This will be a great opportunity to explore and share your own background and perspectives around this topic, learn from others, share areas that would support your professional development, and inform the work of the AOK Network workgroup. Anyone working in the early childhood community is invited to join us!

The Rock Island County All Our Kids Early Childhood Network is dedicated to provide a space for community members to gather and come together around the issues and opportunities facing our community. We recognize these can be challenging times for children and families in our community, as well as the agencies that serve them.
However, we believe that as a community what we can do is come together to have a space to acknowledge the barriers we have and name the elephants in our rooms, and also to recognize and celebrate the assets and resources that remain in our community and come together to sustain a strong community united in supporting children and families. We may not know all the answers, but we feel the best place to start is with the conversation.
