Early Learning Quad Cities
Early Learning Quad Cities (ELQC) allows children enrolled in participating child care programs to attend enhanced preschool classes with certified teachers who have specialized training. In these programs, children are screened to assess the need for additional support services like speech or physical therapy. Screenings are also used for the implementation of standards based curriculum geared toward the specific strengths and needs of each child.
In partnership with the Rock Island County Regional Office of Education and several early care and education providers since 2003, Early Learning Quad Cities (ELQC) provides pre-kindergarten support services to children three to five years of age in community-based settings in Rock Island County. Teachers certified in early childhood education partner with site staff to provide educational programming based on the Illinois Early Learning Standards and Creative Curriculum. ELQC currently serves 660 children in 33 center and home-based classrooms at 13 early care and education programs. ELQC is supported by Preschool for All grant funds from the Illinois State Board of Education.
For more information on ELQC please contact Tammy Muerhoff at the Rock Island County Regional Office of Education.
